On Saturday we had our annual Scentsy UK Spring Sprint in Oxford, where consultants throughout the UK gathered for a day of training and fun.

One of our consultants is currently fighting breast cancer and did an amazing and emotional talk about how she discovered and was diagnosed as having breast cancer.  I very naively believed that having a lump on your breast was the only sign of this awful disease.  This consultant did not have a lump, she had a pink patch of skin and in fact only mentioned this in passing to her GP, as she had actually gone to see them about some pain she was suffering in her shoulder.   Often there are no outward signs of breast cancer that you can see or feel. If there are outward signs, the more common ones include a lump, an area of thickening, or a dimple in the breast. Less common signs include breast swelling and redness or an enlarged underarm lymph node.

She then talked about her chemotherapy, the side effects of her treatment and the amazing support offered to her by MacMillan Cancer Support.

Who are MacMillan Cancer Support?

It is terrifying to think that one in three people will suffer from cancer.  As well as helping with the medical needs of people affected by cancer, Macmillan also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care.  MacMillan Cancer Support’s goal is to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer in the UK.

Although within the UK and Ireland, us Independent Scentsy Consultants are spread far and wide, we have a fantastic community and some consultants are now working together to raise funds for MacMillan.  This fundraising is consultant led and just proves that we are so much more than warmers and wax.

Led by this amazing consultant, every month a different bar is put in the spotlight and those consultants taking part will donate their commission from each bar sold to this incredible charity.

February’s bar is Scentsy’s Love Story, just in time for Valentine’s Day.

I am proud to announce that I will of course be taking part in this fundraising, so every month I will post which bar is featured for that month.
