Why I Love Direct Selling and Scentsy

It is no secret, I love Scentsy.  I am completely passionate about the products and the company that I am part of.  I love being part of a large network of consultants, including those outside of my group.  I have made lifelong friendships and I am so grateful for the opportunities Scentsy has given me.

What Are The Advantages Of Joining A Direct Selling Company?

According to the DSA (Direct Selling Association) “Direct selling is now firmly established as a recognised channel of retail distribution around the world, with many multinational companies operating in over 170 international markets. In 2012, worldwide direct sales were estimated at more than $167 billion a year and provide earnings opportunities to over 91.5 million direct sellers. In the UK, over 400,000 people are involved with direct selling. It is a vibrant, growing industry offering a flexible earning opportunity to all, whatever age, culture, gender or ability.”

My personal top 5 advantages of joining a direct selling company over starting a business from scratch is:-

1.  COST

You can start your own work from business at a much cheaper cost than launching a new business.  Typically with a direct selling company, you will purchase a starter kit which will contain products and business tools valued at higher than the retail price.  It is low risk.  You don’t have the overheads of renting office space, equipment etc  You do not need to hold inventory, the products are shipped to you for customer distribution.

“More than three quarters (76 per cent) of micro-businesses launched with less than £2,000 of start-up funds, according to a survey by freelancer website PeoplePerHour.”  Joining a direct selling company sees much cheaper starting costs.

2.  SUPPORT AND FRIENDSHIPS

I love that not only do I have my own business, but I am part of a large network of consultants.  When you join a direct selling company, such as Scentsy, you join under someone who is called your “sponsor”.  This person is there to help you launch and grow your business.  Whilst I cannot speak on behalf of other companies, with Scentsy we have a fantastic support network within our groups as well as from Scentsy themselves.  I now have friends from around the world!

3.  NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

You don’t need a degree or a professional requirement.  If you have the passion for the product and company and the determination to succeed then there is no reason why it cannot work for you.

4.  FLEXIBILITY

I have two daughters, one of school age and a baby.  Being a work from home mum allows me to do the school runs every day, take my daughter to her after-school clubs and take my baby to her swimming lessons.  I am at home for all the school holidays and never miss a school assembly.  A direct selling business is highly flexible.  You set your hours.  

Whether you want your direct selling business to be a part-time or full-time occupation for you, you are in control.

5.  PRODUCTS

The products will be of quality and all the regulations in your chosen field will be dealt with by the company you join.  This leaves you free to enjoy the products and the company you are part of.
